"Finer Women since 1929"

How Can You Join?

During the fall semester we formally identify with prospective women through our open house and rush events. In addition, we do a number of special sisterhood bonding events each semester. These events include trips to the beach, bonfires, ice cream socials, bowling, movie night, etc. During the fall we invite our prospective members to attend our bonding events so that they can get to know us, as a group and individually.

Prospective women must attend at least one of our recruiting events to be considered for a bid. These events include Open House, Rush, Unrush, and various other informal events we plan in the fall semester. The prospective women will receive a bid preference card from the dean of students in their campus mail boxes. They must fill this card out and turn it in to the dean's office if they wish to be considered for a bid. The bid process takes place in December and prospective members will receive a letter in their campus mailbox informing them whether or not they have been invited to join the Thalian Society.

In order to be eligible to pledge a society, prospective members must be full time students at Whittier College and in good academic standing. Individuals will be denied the opportunity to pledge if they do not meet this criteria.

New Member Education (pledging) occurs during January when students are enrolled in only one class. In order to pledge, a prospective member must be enrolled in a January term class. New member education lasts three weeks.

Email the 2009 Pledge Mistress, Mz. Magaly Perez, if you have any questions regarding the pledging process.

Who Can Request a Bid?

Any eligible woman enrolled full-time at Whittier College, in academic good standing, and who has attended at least one recruiting event.

Benefits of Joining

An everlasting bond of sisterhood that thrives long after graduation.
